Privacy Policy

OOPSONLINE.IN is an independent news-commentary website operated from India. We publish summaries of real, already-published news stories alongside clearly labelled humour. You can reach us any time at hello@oopsonline.in.

Account data. If you create an account, we store the email address you sign up with and the display name you choose. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider; we never see or store your password.

Activity you create. Reactions, comments, saved stories and unlocked badges are stored against your account so your collection persists between visits.

Device and usage data. Analytics tools record pages viewed, approximate location (country/region level), device type and referring website. This is aggregated measurement data, not a personal profile.

We do not ask for your phone number, address, date of birth, government identifiers or payment details, and you should never send them to us.

Essential storage keeps you signed in and remembers preferences such as sound on/off, mascot visibility and your consent choice. The site cannot work without it.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand which stories people read. They load only after you accept them.

Advertising cookies may be set by advertising partners, including Google AdSense, if and when advertising is enabled on the site, to measure and — where you allow it — personalise ads. They also load only after consent is given.

Consent management. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown Google's certified consent management platform (Google Privacy & messaging), which records advertising consent using the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. Elsewhere, our own cookie bar records your choice in your browser's local storage. Google's advertising and analytics tags run in Google Consent Mode, so they are held in a denied state until a choice exists.

You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer — where Google's consent platform applies, that link reopens Google's own preferences screen — and you can clear cookies from your browser settings whenever you like.

We intend to fund the site with advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.

Hosting and database/authentication infrastructure, Google Analytics for audience measurement, and news APIs that supply the headlines we summarise. Article images and links point to the original publishers, who have their own privacy policies.

Account and activity data is kept until you ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained according to the analytics provider's standard retention window.

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the data linked to your account by emailing hello@oopsonline.in. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to withdraw consent or object to certain processing — the cookie settings link in the footer withdraws analytics and advertising consent instantly.

OOPSONLINE.IN is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
